Austin Persenger

Austin Persinger is an Appalachian Youth Program Director working with the Behavioral Health Outreach Project that improves lives by connecting people to people and people to resources, strengthening communities, empowering youth to facilitate change, and reducing barriers. His background in Information Science is helpful for a multidisciplinary approach to research. His work is informed by his experiences and successes as a public library director where he honed community outreach skills, promoted literacy, increased access to art and culture, and developed his understanding of the power of story. He strives to nurture a culture of health and happiness in the mountains by connecting and reconnecting people to Appalachian culture, to the land, to themselves, and to one another.
